We left home at 11.30am all packed up to go to Eastbourne for Anne & Lynette’s family gathering. It was great seeing everyone over a BBQ lunch. After cutting a cake for daddy’s birthday (on 20th August) and some family photos we left Eastbourne at 4.15pm and drove to Folkestone to the Eurotunnel train terminal for our 18.50 train to Calais. It was 101 miles to Folkestone from home.

The check-in was smooth and fairly quiet and the train crossing uneventful, arriving in Calais at about 19.30 UK time, or 20.30 French time. We were soon in France heading south on a toll motorway towards Rouen. The children enjoyed seeing lots wind turbines and harvester cutting hay and making hundreds of hay bales. We also started keeping tracking different countries cars came from.

We got to Rouen and our hotel next to the Cathedral at about 22.30. Mileage to Rouen from home was 235 miles.
